Electrofusion equipment works by transforming electrical energy and conducting it through a wire inside a polyethylene coupling. In so doing, the interior of the coupling is thermofused to the exterior wall of the pipe.

In order to carry out a good electrofusion it is important that the equipment has a barcode reader or a manual keyboard to enter the information about the electrical resistance of the coupling. This information is generally printed in a barcode and includes data on the type of material, electrical resistance, and heating and cooling time necessary for the coupling to be fully electrofused with the pipe.

The electrofusion process entails a series of alignment and scraping steps in order to avoid possible errors that could cause leaks or fractures in the weld of the pipe with the coupling.

 

Electrofusion equipment varies in the diameter of pipe and coupling, the types of connections to these couplings, the amount of memory it has to record the different electrofusions, the download system for electrofusion parameters by USB or bluetooth, and finally, the capacity of printing labels with a barcode that allows having a quality control in every electrofusion and also a GPS locating system.

 

To obtain good results, it is important that the electrofusion process is carried out by trained personnel with the right materials, equipment and tools.
