Plastic Injection Machine
Injection machines are equipment for welding all sorts of thermoplastics, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, CPVC, PVDF, etc.
Plastic welding is mainly used in construction of tubs, tanks, water and chemical containers, and as part of an industrial process.
Extruders can be either analogue or digital. They have a preheating system for the base material and another for the mass or filler material (weld). Digital injection machines are recommended when welding high-thickness plastics is required or when welding plastics in extreme weather conditions.
There are also compact extruders for welding in reduced spaces and larger, sturdier injection machines for welding in broader surfaces and faster.
In plastic welding it's important to choose the right equipment according to the application. This is determined based on the type of material, thickness, surface and other variables to be taken into consideration.
The different models of injection machines vary in characteristics such as: weight, length, speed, size of filler material, shape of teflon or shoe, etc.
The speed of an injection machine is measured in kg per hour and it depends on the diameter of the welding cord being used (3, 4 or 5 mm of diameter).
The determinant feature for a well-done weld with an injection machine is the stability of the temperature during the preheating stage and that of the mass or filler material. Furthermore one must bear in mind that to achieve good results, welding by injection must be carried out by trained personnel with the adequate material, equipment and tools.
